Belvo Challenge 2021

We’re not sure when we will be back down in Ollie Campbell Park either playing or watching rugby but we want to keep everyone engaged, active, keep the competitive juices flowing and have a bit of fun. So, we are looking for members of all ages to sign up for the Belvo Challenge - 2021.

What is it?

A team-based competition that encourages members to stay active during lock-down. It will run for 6 weeks from Monday 25th Jan until Sunday 7th March (6 weeks).

How does it work?

Each team will be made up of participants from different membership categories. Each team member contributes KMs (Kilometers) to their team based on their activity level.

A run or a walk is worth the number of KMs covered, a workout session (Joe Wicks type session, yoga pilates etc) is worth 5 KMs, a sea swim is worth 5 KMs, every 3 KMs cycled is worth 1 KM.

A team captain will be appointed (who will arrange the team’s WhatsApp) and team members text their daily KMs to the captain who then sends the results on to the club. Totals will be tallied every week and updates sent out weekly. Obviously, the team with the most KMs covered is the winner. There will be weekly winners and an overall winner, there will also be winners from each category. Each member of the overall winning team will receive a €100 one-for-all voucher. We will also have weekly prizes for the best team and best individuals.

What are the membership categories who will participate?

·      Mini rugby (boys and girls)

·      Minis parents (mums and dads)

·      U20s / youths *

·      Men senior rugby *

·      Men junior rugby *

·      Women adult *

·      Alicadoos (coaches, managers, supporters, parents of players, basically anyone under 65 with a pulse)

·      Mens Shedders

* Walking KMs don’t count for these categories

Depending on interest we will have teams of 8 (each team made up of one participant from every membership category).

How do I sign up?

Just email your name, category and mobile number to admin@oldbelvedere.ie. Head the email Belvo Challenge and put down your name and category and your contact mobile number. Obviously, all contact with Mini members will be via parent/guardian.

e.g. Joe Bloggs – Mini parent – 087-1234567.

Entries close on Monday 19th January, teams will be picked by Thursday 21nd, you will be told of your team by Saturday 23rd and the Challenge commences on Monday 25th.

How much does it cost to participate? Absolutely nothing, just a bit of enthusiasm.
