Dear Members,
We are delighted to share some fantastic news from the rugby world. One of our own, Yvonne Nolan, has been appointed Competition Director at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. A role that places her at the very centre of the biggest tournament in the history of the women’s game.
A true Belvo legend, Yvonne has worn the black and white jersey with distinction and went on to represent Ireland at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. She then moved into a distinguished career in law and rugby governance. Now a senior legal counsel at World Rugby, she will oversee the smooth running of the tournament.
Her responsibilities are wide-ranging, covering everything from disciplinary processes and tournament rules to player welfare and standards on the field of play. It’s a testament to her expertise, dedication, and passion for the game that she is now directing affairs at the biggest Women’s Rugby World Cup to date.
Yvonne continues to remain closely connected with Old Belvedere RFC, and we are immensely proud to see her leading on the global stage. This tournament is expected to be transformational for women’s rugby, with record-breaking crowds and global attention. To have Yvonne at the heart of it all is a huge source of pride for our club.
With seven Belvo players also named in the Ireland squad, our club’s influence is being felt both on and off the pitch.
We wish her every success over the coming weeks and look forward to celebrating this milestone together.
